Police Foundation Partners with Dash & WSPD for Free Community Movie Night on October 22
September 23, 2016Movie Night at BB&T Ballpark is a Relish “Hot Pick” for this weekend!
October 20, 2016One of the Police Department’s 2015 Domestic Violence Awareness initiatives was the creation of its own Silent Witnesses. Silent Witnesses are life size wooden silhouettes that represent someone who lost their life to domestic violence. Each silhouette bears a shield that tells the story of how that person died. The nationally recognized color for Domestic Violence Awareness Month is purple; so the Winston-Salem Police Department decided to color its Silent Witnesses purple. These silhouettes are still used and are highly visible and effective in creating awareness. In 2015 and 2016 the Police Department displayed a domestic violence awareness themed vehicle at various events and locations; to include the Dixie Classic Fair, inside of the Hanes Mall, area high schools, local parades and many other events. In 2015 and 2016 the Police Department held a Domestic Violence Awareness Month kickoff to commemorate the month.
