January 17, 2022Winston-Salem Police Foundation Announces Board of Directors for 2022
The Winston-Salem Police Foundation is excited to announce a planned transition in leadership for the 2022 board of directors. Existing board member Justin Gomez, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist will be leading the organization as Barry Rountree, Winston-Salem Police Department (retired Chief), shifts to Immediate Past President.
Changes to the foundation’s volunteer board also include the addition of four new members:
- Amanda Hamlin, Cook Medical
- Elisabeth Mulcahy, Truliant Federal Credit Union
- Chris Geis, Womble Bond Dickenson LLP
- Eric Robinette, Medtronic, Restorative Therapies Group
“Despite challenges faced with the COVID pandemic, we are extremely grateful that we were still able to partner with the Winston-Salem Police Department on several key initiatives,” said immediate past president, Barry Rountree. “The foundation is proud of the numerous community outreach programs the Police Department has conducted with our support, and we’re looking forward to the ways in which Justin Gomez will help take our organization to the next level.”
For 2022, the Winston-Salem Police Foundation officers are:
Justin Gomez, President, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist;
Barry Rountree, Immediate Past President, Winston-Salem Police Department (retired);
Scott Somerville, Vice President, Hanes Activewear;
Alex Thornton, Secretary, J.E. Thornton, P.A.; and
Amanda Hamlin, Treasurer, Cook Medical
In addition to new members, other board members are: James DuBose, Winston-Salem State University; John Devlin, Cook Medical, Inc.; Calvin McRae II, Greater Winston-Salem, Inc.; Daniel Butner, Community Volunteer; Nancy Young, Community Volunteer; Simon Burgess, Mayfair Street Partners; Matt Schooler, M.Ed., LAT, ATC, Novant Health; Tadhg O’Gara, MD, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist; and Catrina Thompson, Chief of the Winston-Salem Police Department (ex-officio member).
The 2021 board of directors would like to recognize retiring members Scott Sewell, Rob Simon, Evelyn Acree, and Jordan Wilson. Each member has made invaluable contributions, and their service as members of the Winston-Salem Police Foundation is much appreciated.
The foundation allows for tax-exempt gifts from individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations, and is the only organization authorized to raise funds on behalf of the Winston-Salem Police Department.
