The Winston-Salem Police Foundation is proud to announce the Operation Protect & Serve charity event will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Wake Forest BioTech Place in the Innovation Quarter of downtown Winston-Salem. This festive and memorable event will celebrate the WSPD community while raising awareness of important community building work taking place with the WS Police Foundation’s support.
Community support of Operation Protect & Serve is vital as the Winston-Salem Police Foundation continues to raise funds for key initiatives such as:
- Building authentic relationships between WSPD officers and local youth through a Police Athletic League Outreach Program
- Supporting our local students through key educational programs like the Millennial Scholars Program and Police Foundation Annual Scholarship Fund
- Working in partnership with our WSPD officers to help launch the latest in crime prevention and gun violence reduction technology such as the Real Time Crime Center
- Partnering with the WSPD to support officer and staff health & wellness programs
Event Details
Who: Anyone that supports the Winston-Salem Police Foundation and Department and enjoys a memorable and fun evening out in downtown Winston-Salem.
What: Operation Protect & Serve
When: Thursday, May 23 | 5:30- 8:30pm
(5:30-6:30 cocktail hour, 7-8:30pm event)

Program and Keynote
Guests are welcomed to explore the multiple food stations presented by Roar. A brief program will include special keynote speakers, Mr. Cameron Kent.

Keynote Speaker Bio
Cameron Kent
Cameron Kent is a 1979 graduate of Wake Forest University with a degree in Speech Communications. He’s a member of the North Carolina Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
He retired in 2017 after 33 years at WXII-12 News in Winston-Salem. He was nominated for 14 Emmy Awards for journalism, and won an Emmy for his reporting on the Pentagon after 9/11.
As the Crimestoppers reporter for WXII, he won the Crimestoppers top journalism award for the Southeast Region eleven times, and the top award for crime reporting from Crimestoppers International three times.
Cameron has been extremely active in our community, helping dozens of worthwhile organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and Samaritan Ministries.
He’s a recipient of the North Carolina Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, honoring individuals who make a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service.
Cameron is currently a full-time author. His sixth novel, The Oak Island Book Club, was released in December.
