March 2, 2024Winston-Salem Police Foundation Announces Board of Directors for 2024
Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Winston-Salem Police Foundation is excited to announce the 2024 board of directors. Dianne Blixt, retired Chief Financial Officer of Reynolds American, has accepted the officer position of Treasurer. Other officer positions remain unchanged from 2023 to 2024.
Additional changes to the foundation’s volunteer board also include the addition of six new members:
- Katie Grubbs, Community Volunteer
- John Hunt, Blue Rock Wealth Management
- John Morgan, SupplyTrust (Retired Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy)
- Kathleen O’Gara, Community Volunteer
- Scott Sewell, Cook Medical
- Quintin Williams, Debbie’s Staffing
“The Winston-Salem Police Foundation is proud of the numerous community outreach programs and initiatives we were able to partner with the Police Department on during 2023, including holding the second season of the Police Athletic League tee ball,” said board president, Scott Somerville. “We’re looking forward to the ways we take our organization to the next level for 2024, and continue to support the hard working men and women of the Winston-Salem Police Department.”
For 2024, the Winston-Salem Police Foundation officers are: Scott Somerville, Hanes Activewear (retired) as President; Simon Burgess, Mayfair Street Partners as Vice President; Justin Gomez, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist as Immediate Past President; Matt Schooler, Novant Health as Secretary; and Dianne Blixt as Treasurer.
In addition to new members and officers, other board members are:
Barry Rountree, Winston-Salem Police Department (retired); Calvin McRae II, Greater Winston-Salem, Inc.; Nancy Young, community volunteer; Chris Geis, Womble Bond Dickinson; Lis Mulcahy, Truliant; Angela Daniels, WSSU; and William Penn, Chief of Police, Winston-Salem Police Department (ex-officio member).
The 2023 board of directors would like to recognize the members ending their term of service: Tadhg O’Gara, MD and Eric Robinette. Each member has made invaluable contributions, and their service as members of the Winston-Salem Police Foundation is much appreciated.
The foundation allows for tax-exempt gifts from individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations, and is the only organization authorized to raise funds on behalf of the Winston-Salem Police Department.
